The Band

The fall of 2004 saw singer/songwriter Abigail Henderson and guitarist Chris Meck get together and write some songs.  First it was pretty country … pretty … cowpunkish.  Now, almost five years, two vans, three drummers, nine bass players, one dead moose, three European tours and three (soon to be 4) records later … not so much.  Broader in scope, with a finer point on the pen, it is difficult to “pin” The Gaslights down into a suitable genre box.

Bassist Erik Voeks joined in early 2008, and along with a high level of general musicianship brought a pop sensibiity to the group.  New drummer Mike Meyers brings a long history with Meck and Henderson in other projects and capacities full circle with his formal signing on in December of 2008.

The Gaslights decided to move on to other projects in late 2009 but still hope to release some singles later this year.

Chris & Abigail formed the duo Tiny Horse in late 2009 and in the summer of 2010 started a new band with Amy Farrand & Dutch Humphrey called Atlantic Fadeout.  You can also keep up to date on Abigail’s fight with Inflammatory Breast Cancer at her blog www.hopeismymiddlename.com/.

Erik has been playing bass on the road now and then with Jon Dee Graham since 2009 and in 2010 started playing guitar in a new band called Miss America.

And Mike … well, he’s been hitting those drums hard playing all over Kansas City in Salamander.
